Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about our telehealth practice, billing, medications, and what to expect during your visits.

General Telehealth

Telehealth psychiatry involves providing psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, and medication management via secure, HIPAA-compliant video conferencing instead of in-person office visits. It allows you to receive expert care from the comfort and privacy of your home.

Yes. Extensive research has shown that telepsychiatry is highly effective and yields outcomes comparable to in-person care for conditions like ADHD, anxiety, and depression. It also increases adherence to appointments by removing barriers like commuting and waiting rooms.

We are licensed to provide telehealth services to patients residing in multiple states. Because regulations vary, please contact us or check our booking page to verify if we serve your specific state.

Currently, our practice specializes in treating adults aged 18 and older. We do not provide pediatric psychiatric services at this time.

Telehealth is not suitable for everyone. We do not treat active suicidal ideation, severe substance use disorders requiring detox, active psychosis/schizophrenia, or severe eating disorders that require close medical monitoring. If you are experiencing an emergency, please call 911 or 988.

Appointments

Initial psychiatric evaluations last approximately 60 minutes. Follow-up medication management appointments are typically scheduled for 30 minutes to ensure ample time to discuss progress and make adjustments.
Frequency depends on your specific needs and treatment plan. Usually, after starting a new medication, we meet every 2-4 weeks. Once you are stable on a regimen, appointments may be spread out to every 1-3 months.
We require 48 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Appointments canceled or missed with less than 48 hours’ notice may be subject to a cancellation fee, as that time was reserved exclusively for you.
Please complete all intake and consent forms in the patient portal at least 24 hours prior to your visit. Have a list of your current medications (including supplements), pharmacy information, and ensure you are in a quiet, private space with a strong internet connection.

Privacy & Security

Yes. We use a specialized, end-to-end encrypted video conferencing platform designed specifically for healthcare. It meets or exceeds all HIPAA requirements for security and privacy.
No. We never record audio or video of your sessions. Your privacy is paramount.
Only your treating provider and authorized practice staff involved in your care or billing have access. We will never share your records with outside parties (like other doctors or family members) without your explicit written consent, except where required by law.

Technology Requirements

You can use any smartphone (iOS or Android), tablet, or computer (Mac or PC) that has a working camera, microphone, and a stable internet connection. No special app download is required; the link will open directly in your web browser.
If the video connection fails, try refreshing your browser or clicking the link again. If technical difficulties persist, your provider will call the phone number on file to continue the appointment via audio or help troubleshoot.
