Terms of Service

Welcome to McLean Psychiatry & Wellness. By accessing our website or scheduling services with us, you agree to be bound by the following Terms of Service. Please read them carefully before using our website or receiving care.

1. Nature of Services

McLean Psychiatry & Wellness provides psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and mental health treatment exclusively via telehealth to residents of Virginia. Services are provided by Ashly McLean, PMHNP-BC, a licensed Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. We treat teens (13+) and adults.

2. No Emergency Services

This website and our telehealth services are not intended for medical or psychiatric emergencies. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, having thoughts of harming yourself or others, or facing a medical emergency, call 911 immediately, go to your nearest emergency room, or call/text the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Our office does not provide 24/7 crisis coverage.

3. Eligibility & Geographic Restrictions

Due to state licensing regulations, our services are available only to individuals physically located in Virginia at the time of their telehealth appointment. It is your responsibility to confirm you are located in Virginia when receiving services. Patients under 18 must have parental or legal guardian consent to receive treatment.

4. Scheduling & Cancellations

Appointments are scheduled through Headway or directly with our office. We require at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling.

  • Late cancellations (less than 24 hours) may incur a fee
  • No-shows may incur a fee and impact future scheduling availability
  • Repeated missed appointments may result in discharge from the practice

5. Insurance & Payment

Insurance benefits are managed through Headway for in-network plans (Aetna, Cigna, Anthem BCBS, United Healthcare, CareFirst, and Tricare). Coverage is not guaranteed and depends on your individual plan; you are responsible for any co-pays, deductibles, or costs not covered by your insurance. United Healthcare and Tricare patients must contact our office prior to scheduling to confirm coverage. Self-pay rates are available for patients without applicable insurance coverage.

6. Controlled Substances & Prescribing

Prescribing decisions, including for controlled substances (such as certain ADHD medications), are made at the sole clinical discretion of the prescribing provider and in accordance with state and federal law. Certain controlled substances may require an initial in-person evaluation per DEA telehealth regulations, and prescriptions are not guaranteed for any patient or condition.

7. Website Content Disclaimer

The content on this website — including information about ADHD, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and medication management — is provided for general educational purposes only. It does not constitute medical advice and should not be used as a substitute for a professional evaluation. No provider-patient relationship is established simply by browsing this website or submitting a contact form.

8. Communications

Our contact form is not a secure messaging portal and is not monitored 24/7. Please do not submit sensitive medical information, prescription requests, or emergency concerns through the contact form. For urgent (non-emergency) matters, please call our office directly.
